Administration of Estates

This is a significant area of work for this practice in which we have considerable expertise. We are flexible in that we are prepared to do the whole administration of the Estate or if you prefer just apply for the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration, and for the latter provided a full scale inland revenue account is not required, eg if estate worth less than £325,000 (2009/10), we charge a fixed fee of £250.00+VAT plus the probate fee of £40+.

Historically Solicitors have charged a value element in fees as well as an hourly rate. We no longer think this is acceptable to modern consumers and charge only a rate for work undertaken at £120+VAT per hour.

Unless the Estate is particularly complicated (and we advise you accordingly), we will ensure that the fees are less than 2% of the value of the Estate (compared with Law Society Guidelines that appropriate fees are 2%-3% of the Estate value).
